About us
Care at Home - live-in care specialists
Care at Home were established in 1990 and our head office is just outside Saffron Walden in Essex.
Live-in Care works because more and more people are looking to retain their independence and want to maintain a quality of life as well as retain the freedom of their own home. Care at Home employ its carers directly and does not supply self-employed carers. All our carers are trained to a high standard and have been fully checked with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB).
Live in care also works well because you are in your own home where things are familiar and you have complete say in what happens - there are no visiting times and if you want to keep your pet, then you can.
In summary Care at Home is key in providing the following:
One-to-one care
The main advantage of live in care in your own home is that you receive one-to-one care, which is unlike the service provided in a care home where one carer may be responsible for looking after several residents at a time. With live-in care the service is tailored to suit your personal needs. You are in complete control of your care and you can choose what time you get up in the morning and what time you go to bed.
A care plan to suit your needs and wishes
We prepare a bespoke care plan which is tailored to your specific needs. Our carers then provide care in accordance with your needs and wishes on a daily basis. The care plan covers the following areas:
- A thorough risk assessment of your home to make sure, for example, that you do not trip over a rug or slip on a wet bathroom floor.
- Information about your family and others who visit you regularly and what involvement, if any, you want them to have in your care.
- Details about security in your home and the access arrangements for visitors.
- Whether you have a pet and what help you will need in looking after it..
- Communication and any problems you may have, for example, do you need help with your hearing aid?.
- Information relating to any medical conditions or allergies you may have. Details of any medication you take and when.
- Whether you need help with personal care, such as washing, bathing or showering and using the toilet.
- Your preferred daily routine, including what time you like to get up and go to bed.
- Details of your favourite foods and drinks and any special dietary requirements you may have.
- Any problems you may have with mobility. Wherever possible we will try to ensure that you are able to get out of the house whenever you want, so that you can keep in touch with your local community.
- We like to know about your interests and how you like to spend your day.
- Your care plan will also include vital information about your local GP and anyone else who can be contacted if you require medical attention..
Security and comfort
If you choose Care at Home, you will continue to live in the familiar and safe surroundings of your own home. At the same time you will enjoy the added companionship and security of having a carer on hand 7days a week. You will avoid the stress and upheaval involved in moving into a care home - possibly far away from where you have always lived. Instead you will continue to live in your own neighbourhood among your old familiar friends.
