Home care case history
Care at Home have been providing residential home care since 1990 and the company prides itself on giving a first class service. Our home care falls into a number of categories and can range from providing respite for families to full time care for either the elderly or for our younger clients, one of whom has Cerebral Palsy. Care in your own home is an alternative to going in to a care home and allows our clients to retain their independence. A few examples of the current care we provide is, as follows:
Client in her 80's
Molly was a lady in her eighties who was being cared for by us in her own home when she suddenly became ill and had to be admitted to hospital. On the family's request our very experienced carer went and stayed with Molly in hospital for the duration of her stay. When it was realised that molly was not going to recover from her illness, a discharge plan was worked out with the hospital which enabled Molly to return home with the help of our carer and die peacefully in her own home with her family at her side.
Client with severe Alzheimer's
Leslie has severe Alzheimer's . He needs constant care and supervision. He is unable to take responsibility for any of his personal or household care. The same carer has been with Leslie for nearly a year now and has developed a routine with him. The continuity of care means that the rate of deterioration in his condition is considerably slower than if he had been in hospital.
Client with Multiple Sclerosis
Marion is a 59 year old woman who has suffered from Multiple Sclerosis since 1977. She is completely dependent on her carer and family. She was recently reassessed and provided with an electric wheelchair. Her carer is now able to take Marion on outings which has greatly enhanced her quality of life. The carer regularly contacts her family who are confident that Marion is in safe hands.
Client with Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy
Same is a 25 year old man who suffers from Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. He lives at home with his family. Sam's mum came to us when she could no longer cope with the challenges and needs she faced on a daily basis . We were able to provide an experienced trained carer for Sam who has become Sam's constant companion and friend to him and his family and so relieving some of the pressure upon the family and enhancing the whole families quality of life.
Client in her 90's
Sally is a 93 year old lady who suffers from poor hearing, short term memory loss, Osteoporosis and is very frail. We began with one full time carer for Sally, but following a small stroke Sally was unable to weight bear and so two full time carers are now with her. This has meant that Sally has been able to stay in her own home happy and safe.
