Home from hospital care
Is your elderly loved one about to be discharged from hospital and you are looking for immediate postoperative care? Is your immediate thought to contact a convalescent home or are worried how they will cope on their own at home?
It can take time for the elderly to recover from surgery, or get over a serious illness. Muscles can lose their strength after prolonged inactivity in hospital and mobility can suffer as a result.
Another important consideration is that general anaesthetics can have a damaging effect on memory function as we get older. Hence it will often take an older person considerably longer than a younger person to recover their strength and mental alertness after a stay in the hospital.
We are here to help
If you need someone to look after your mother or father for a few weeks after they have been in the hospital, Care at Home can provide just the help you are looking for. Whether your loved one is recovering from an operation or from a serious illness, with personal care and support provided by a professional carer from Care at Home, they will soon be back on their feet again.
What we do
Our back from hospital care (sometimes called convalescent or post-operative care) is tailored to meet the needs of each individual client and will normally encompass help with mobility and personal care, together with cooking, housekeeping and companionship.
Even though assistance may only be needed for a few weeks, we always go through the same detailed care needs assessment process as we do when we are arranging longer-term care in the home. Every client’s individual wants and needs are paramount and we aim to provide them with a carer they will like and get on with.
